Background & Experience

Owner Kurt Olson is a professional farm manager, a licensed real estate broker, a crop insurance agent, and a Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Lincolnway Energy ethanol plant.

Kurt grew up on a grain and livestock farm in Dolliver, Iowa. He attended Iowa State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in Management. He has continued to work in the agriculture industry, gaining experience in small to large-scale operations for both independent owners and corporations.

Kurt began working 37 years ago with the Litchfield Realty Company, a large family farm corporation. In addition to acting as the insurance and real estate agent, he was the principle farm manager and he oversaw the company's agronomy department, seed operations, and livestock facilities. In 1987, he was elected President of Litchfield Realty and It's subsidiaries, and elected to the Board of Directors in 1988. During the company's restructuring in 2003, Kurt purchased FarmLand Real Estate and Management - the company's farm management, real estate, and insurance subsidiary - and, to this day, continues to represent the Litchfield family as well as a large variety of other landowners in Iowa and Minnesota.
